Tazmoe had the opportunity to work with an engineering firm to assist them with analysing the effects of hurricane Sandy's flooding of NYC.

Fiber-Optic Gyros (FOG) IMU Required

Tazmoe had the challenging task to use a Mobile Mapping System (ScanLook) to scan six subway tubes going under the East River. Obviously there is no GPS available underground and we didn't have the option to obtain a good GPS trajectory before entering the tunnel. We were completely reliant on the IMU capabilities of the system and the signalized control network established in each tube. Generating a trajectory from this environment was a challenge to say the least. The control took the place of the GPS positional information in the trajectory solution.
